Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is one of seven teams within the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO) and is a self-funded, registered charity (Charity Number 1115933).

What we do

Mobilised under police control, we provide search and mountain rescue services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and also respond to requests from the Ambulance and Fire & Rescue Services. Based in the village of Hayfield, we rescue walkers, climbers, fell runners and mountain bikers from the challenging terrain of the western Peak District.

• Mountain and wilderness rescue

• Urban and lowland searches for missing or vulnerable people

• Specialist water rescue on rivers, lakes and reservoirs, including swift-water rescue

• Flood response and water-related incident management

• Patient access assistance for the Ambulance Service

Where we operate

Our area covers Kinder Scout's plateau and western edges, extending westward through Stockport to the M60 and taking in towns including Marple, Whaley Bridge and Macclesfield. We work alongside the six other PDMRO teams and national lowland search and rescue organisations.

Recruitment

We are not currently recruiting for new members.  This is reviewed annually in January.  If this changes, we will update our website and Facebook with further information.

Our volunteers

The team is made up of around 50 unpaid volunteers who give their time freely. Our members turn out for callouts at any hour, train regularly to maintain their skills, and help with fundraising throughout the year.

How we are funded

As a self-funded charity we rely entirely on public donations, and need over £50,000 each year to operate. Every contribution helps us keep our equipment, vehicles and training ready for the next callout. Please consider supporting the team.
