Late on Saturday night the team was asked to assist Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, with a rescue from the middle of the Kinder plateau. The initial information passed to Buxton team was that four young males were in difficulty in the centre of the plateau, north of Grindsbrook Clough. Further enquiries suggested that two of the four males were likely to need to be stretchered out. Evacuating a casualty on a stretcher from the centre of the plateau can be a challenging task, so they asked us to provide the second stretcher. Due to the amount of time it takes to get a stretcher to a casualty site, they are often deployed straight away if we suspect they may be needed.
Kinder team deployed our hill parties with a stretcher from Edale Cross. While Buxton team deployed with their stretcher up to the top of Grindsbrook from Edale. As our first party arrived at Grindsbrook, they met up with Buxton team members and headed in to the casualty site. An advanced Buxton party had gone ahead and made contact with the casualties. They managed to warm them up and persuade them to start walking out. Both teams finally made it to the casualties and they were walked out to the top of Grindsbrook, before being escorted back down to Edale by the rest of Buxton team.
We finally had all our team members and equipment back at Kinder base at 4:30am.
