The team were called to assist Buxton Mountain Rescue Team in the search for a pair of missing walkers on Kinder Scout. Buxton team had initially managed to retrieve a location for the missing walkers using one of our phone locator tools which placed them on the southern edges of Kinder. A couple of Buxton search parties were sent out to recover them, however on arrival at the area, the missing walkers were nowhere to be found. As the plateau was in cloud cover with limited visibility and darkness was approaching, the search was scaled up to firstly include search dogs, then Edale team and ourselves.
Just as we were in the process of deploying on the hill, Buxton control managed to receive another call from the pair to say they could see a search party approaching. This turned out to be one of the Buxton parties who warmed up the pair and escorted them off the hill. It transpired that the pair had decided to attempt to make their way off the hill, so weren’t at the location where we first pinged the phone.
