Introduction
As an outdoor organisation and a member of our local, national and international communities, we want to play our part in tackling the many issues that threaten our natural world. These include climate change, the use of resources, waste management and single use plastics.
Our Aim
The primary aim of Kinder MRT is to save lives in wild and remote places. This is our core activity and must take precedence over everything else. Given that, we also aim to be sustainable in everything we do.
Sustainability Principles
We are guided by four sustainability principles:
- Have sustainability at the heart of everything we do. This means that we ask all executive members, appointed officers, and team members to have sustainability at the heart of their thinking and decision making;
- Aim for Net Zero. We will aim to reduce all our CO2 emissions by reducing consumption and by using renewable suppliers;
- Sustainable purchasing. As well as performance and cost, we will include sustainability in our purchase decisions. We will seek suppliers with a good sustainability profile; and
- Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle. We will look to buy quality products with a long life. We will repair whenever possible and re-purpose old or obsolete equipment.
