We were contacted by the police to assist with the search for a vulnerable young lady in the New Mills area. Having successfully located her previously, see callout 26 in July, we once again deployed to the Ollersett Moor and Cracken Edge area, alongside the police.
Passing walkers saw a young lady enter a cave / mine entrance on Cracken Edge. We deployed team members around the area, so that if she left we could keep her in sight for them. We also sought assistance from Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation, in case someone was injured or the police required assistance underground.
Once the police had the young lady out of the cave / mine entrance, they escorted her off the hill to a waiting ambulance. We remained with them in case they required assistance in getting her off the hill safely. Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation were then stood down and we thank them for their response. The team then stood down once all our volunteers were safely off the hill.
