Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

Local company provides KMRT with new stretcher

The team would like to extend a huge thank you to Arm Ltd for their very generous charitable donation to enable the team to purchase a third Bell rescue stretcher.

Our stretchers are absolutely critical to the effective operations of the team as we frequently have to carry casualties by stretcher before a land or air ambulance can be reached, often for a long distance over rugged terrain. A casualty may be on a steep hillside or rock face which is difficult to access, or may need rescuing by helicopter, requiring the stretcher bearing the casualty to be lifted or lowered by ropes or winched into the helicopter.

Accordingly, the Bell stretchers are specifically designed for Mountain Rescue use, being very sturdy and subject to regular servicing to ensure absolute safety and the strength to withstand the heavy stresses placed on them.

Arm® is the world’s leading technology provider of silicon IP and custom System-on-Chips at the heart of billions of devices. Investing in the communities where they operate is a critical element of Arm’s sustainability strategy and, in response to Covid-19, Arm® allocated $2 million towards response efforts; half towards local community programmes and the rest to support the global cause.

Particular thanks to Kitto Richards, a KMRT supporter who lives in Hayfield and works for Arm Ltd’s Manchester office.
