We were called at 17:45 to a couple who had become lost after their walk had taken longer than expected and it had become dark. We were able to pinpoint their location using PhoneFind technology, which placed them in Broad Clough. Fortunately we are able to access the bottom of Broad Clough using an off road track which runs above the woods near Upper House. This meant it was only a short walk to find the casualties. Once we had warmed them up, it was a careful walk through the boulders back down to our vehicles which allowed us to transport them back to Hayfield.
All three of our vehicles were deployed down what turned out to be a very muddy, slippery track. It again shows the value of having quality off road vehicles (and some very good drivers!) as being able to drive directly to the bottom of Broad Clough made this a relatively straight forward rescue.
