Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

9: Callout – 30 January 2022

Following our monthly Sunday exercise rescuing an “injured” walker near the top of William Clough we were in the process of returning to base when we were informed of a real injured walker on the western edge path of Kinder Scout.

We responded to assist the young lady who had suffered an ankle injury whilst out walking with a group of friends. Four of our hill parties were despatched via Edale Cross, carrying her back to Edale Cross on our mountain rescue stretcher. Her friends were also safely escorted off the hill and returned to their vehicles at Bowden bridge.
