Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

25:CALLOUT – 29 MAY 2022

We were called to attend to a lady who had slipped and taken a tumble while walking on Kinder Scout.  She was being assisted by a couple of passing walkers who had managed to help her down the first section of the Sandy Hayes descent, but her injuries had become too painful to continue, so they had called the team.

Due to her location and possible complications with her injuries a Coastguard helicopter was requested.  They were able to land on a flat area to the side of Sandy Hayes and after a short stretcher carry over rough ground, the lady was loaded in to the helicopter and flown to hospital.
