Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

31: Callout – Sunday 7 August 2022

Just after noon the team was contacted by the Duty Controller to assist an 81 year old lady with a medical condition near the top of Jacob’s Ladder on Kinder Scout. Due to the potentially urgent nature of the call air ambulance 54 was also tasked to the job. Fortunately team members attending off road driver training had just returned to our base and were able to make an immediate response.

Helimed 54 was not able to land close by, but dropped off their Doctor who treated the lady while team members prepared to take her to one of our off road team Landrovers by stretcher. Accompanied by the Helimed Doctor she was taken by team vehicle to a waiting EMAS road ambulance in Hayfield.
