Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

36: Callout – 23 October 2022

The team were called to a Mountain Biker who had fallen in the Mount Famine area, above Peep O Day. He had sustained a hip injury and was unable to walk. Our working diagnosis was suspected broken neck of femur. We provided pain relief and packaged the casualty in our vacuum mattress. He was wheeled off the hill on our stretcher and driven to our base in a team Landrover, where he was handed over to an East Midlands Ambulance Service crew for further treatment and transport to hospital.

We are grateful to the local walkers who helped on scene and in transporting bicycles and cycle partner back to safety. Also, to the passing orthopaedic surgeon who was able to provide initial care and a working diagnosis.
