Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

39: Callout – 19 November 2022

The team’s second callout of the weekend came from a gentleman who had been walking his dog on Kinder Scout when he slipped and badly injured his knee.  He was in significant pain but had managed to make his way to an area that had mobile reception in order to make the call for help.  We were able to establish his exact location using PhoneFind and fortunately were able to drive our off-road vehicles to Edale Cross to allow us to get to him quickly. Four hill parties were used to bring in a stretcher and then after administering pain relief, were able to carry him back down to a waiting ambulance in Coldwell Clough.  His wife was able to meet us to collect their dog before he was transported on to hospital. The team wishes him a speedy recovery.
