The PDMRO Duty Controller called with a potential search for a group of four walkers in the Crowden Head and Grindsbrook area of Kinder Scout. They were believed to be heading to the Southern Edge path in an attempt to head back down to their vehicle in Edale. The party were tired, very cold and wet.
Buxton MRT had been deployed to cover Crowden Clough, Grindslow Knoll and Grindsbrook. We were asked to cover the Southern Edge path from Edale Cross across to Edale Rocks, though the Woolpacks and on towards Crowden Tower and Crowden Head. Mountain rescue search dogs were also deployed from Edale.
Our PhoneFind tool worked and pinpointed the party to near Crowden Head. Both teams headed towards the location and Buxton MRT located them before safely escorting them down to Edale. Our hill parties were able to return to base and the team were stood down.
