As we were about to deploy on a monthly training exercise we were contacted by the PDMRO Duty Controller with a request to assist Derbyshire Police with two lost men on Kinder Scout plateau. We were able to locate them using our PhoneFind technology. Two hill parties went to their location where they were uninjured by cold and worried. After warming them they were walked to our waiting vehicles at Edale Cross.
As they were being walked off the Duty Controller phoned with another request to assist someone nearby at Crowden Brook. After confirming it was a different incident we sent a hill party to this second location and found a couple of cold walkers. They were also warmed up and then walked off the hill to the vehicle at Edale Cross.
Both pairs of walkers were driven down to our base in Hayfield for warm drinks, before being returned to their respective cars in the Hope Valley.
After what had been a very busy day, we finally got to bed in the early hours.
