Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

12: Callout – Saturday 20th May 2023

We were contacted by the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation Duty Controller to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) with an injured walker on the western edge of Kinder Scout.

Four hill parties were despatched to assist the walker and his family and friends. He had suffered a suspected fractured ankle from a simple slip. We managed his pain, splinted his ankle and stretchered him to our waiting vehicles at Edale Cross. He was then carefully driven down to Hayfield and handed over to the EMAS ambulance crew.

We wish him, his family and friends well. It was our pleasure to assist.
