Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

15: Callout – Wednesday 24th May 2023

For our second callout of the afternoon we were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) with a request to assist them with a gentleman who had fallen from height in woodland in the Marple Bridge area. He was in a very difficult location and they required a rope rescue to extricate him.

We were able to support the NWAS crew with medical assistance whilst we set up a rope rescue system. The gentleman was carefully transferred to our specialist vacuum mattress and rescue stretcher, before being gently hauled back up to the footpath, then carried to the waiting ambulance. We wish him a speedy recovery.
