We were asked to assist a gentleman with a possible cardiac problem at Crowden Tower on Kinder Plateau. We dispatched a fast response party with drugs, a defribillator, oxygen and first aid equipment. Other parties followed with the stretcher and extra equipment.
We requested the assistance of an air ambulance and a Coastguard helicopter in case winching was required. Helimed 54 was able to land and so Rescue 912 was stood down.
After a full assessment and discussion with the Helimed medics, the casualty declined to be airlifted to hospital. He walked to Edale Cross under the supervision of the team. The helimed medics accompanied us part way, until poor weather forced their departure. The casualty was driven from Edale Cross to Coldwell Clough, where he was handed to an EMAS land ambulance crew.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
