After a busy New Years day and with the water team still decontaminating and packing away equipment from callout 1 we had our third callout of 2025.
A family of 3 plus their dog had gone for a walk on Kinder and become lost and benighted they had called 999 for assistance and we were tasked via Derbyshire Police and the Duty Controller. Fortunately we were ale to make contact with them and establish each persons condition and provide some advice on staying where they were and keeping warm whilst we were on route. We were also able to utilise Phonefind which allows us to pin point their location, which aid in planning and helps minimise search duration.
Hill parties were quickly deployed in our team landrovers to Edale Cross for a walk along the edge path to the casualty party location, conditions were a slippery underfoot and cold with frost and snow. Luckily all of the party were fit and well and able to walk back to our vehicles for transport down to Hayfield.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
