We were asked to assist a runner who had injured himself whilst taking part in the Bowstones Fell Race at Lyme Park. The initial report was that he had two dislocated knees. A private ambulance service was covering the event and their medical team provided casualty care. We were called to evacuate the casualty on our stretcher the 500m cross country to the road at Bowstones. A waiting North West Ambulance Service ambulance took the runner to hospital where he had surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery.
This was a great multi-agency rescue between Catseye Medical Services, Lyme Park rangers, NWAS and ourselves.
This was our final callout of a record breaking year of 73 calls. Our usual number is around 45 per year. It’s been a huge commitment from all 50 of our volunteer team members. The 4650 callout hours represents only a tiny fraction of the total number of hours team members give to allow us to provide this 24/7/365 service to our community. We also thank everyone in our community who supports us financially, by giving time or kind words.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
