In a remarkably similar request to the previous incident the team was asked to assist a group of 3 walkers in the Kinder Low area. However this rescue turned out to be significantly more straightforward. The three walkers had made a navigational error which led to the route taking far longer than expected. It had now become dark, the weather had closed in and strong winds had picked up. The group were finding it increasingly difficult to make progress, so they called for help.
As this was now late on a Saturday night, we had a limited number of team members available. Fortunately we were able to get an exact location for the group using PhoneFind and on arrival at the location, they were cold, but all able to be walked back to our vehicles. They were brought back to our base to warm up with hot drinks, while they waited for a family member to come over to collect them.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
