Two experienced walkers were visiting Hayfield for the weekend and went for a walk on Kinder. Even their dogs were well equipped. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible on the top and they became disoriented and very frightened. We were able to determine their position with Sarcall PhoneFind as around Pym Chair.
We deployed from Edale Cross and quickly located the ladies, who were uninjured but very cold. We provided our Blizzard jackets, extra dry gloves and some hot drink. We walked them off to our vehicles at Edale Cross and then drove back to base for tea and biscuits. They were extremely grateful to us – the dogs seemed unaffected by the drama.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
