A young lady had planned a walk along the Southern edges of Kinder from Edale. She had made it up on to the plateau only to find out that conditions were poor and visibility was very limited. The weather soon began to get worse and she became lost and cold. She attempted to find her way back to the path, but when this was unsuccessful, she made the decision to call for help.
We initially had some issues establishing her location, as she was having trouble activating the PhoneFind link. We made the decision to call for the assistance of MRSDE Search Dogs in case we had to carry out a search for her and deployed Kinder 1 to Edale Cross to try and meet her. However we were finally able to get a PhoneFind location which put her in the Woolpacks. She was keen to keep moving, so we got her to keep clicking the PhoneFind link every 10 minutes. This meant we were able to let her know she was heading in the right direction.
She finally dropped below the clouds and was able to make her way down Jacob’s Ladder and let us know she had made it safely down.
