An elderly gentleman had activated an SOS from his phone from the northern edges of Kinder Scout. Glossop MRT were tasked with responding to the location to investigate. When they arrived there was no one in the area. They executed a search of the local area with assistance from the Police fixed wing aircraft, (NPAS). As the search of the area proved negative, a decision was made to escalate the search to the full “Kinder plan” a pre-plan for a full scale search of the Kinder plateau. Along with Glossop team, Edale MRT, Buxton MRT, MRSDE Search Dogs and ourselves were called to add to the search. As our team was heading up the Edale Cross track, the NPAS plane spotted someone matching the description walking down Jacobs Ladder. He was intercepted by a team from Edale MRT and his identity was confirmed. After a quick discussion with the gentleman, it appeared he was unaware he had triggered the SOS.
