We were called at 15:07 to assist an injured walker on the Kinder plateau, who had fallen and injured her lower leg. The only information we had was a What3Words phrase and a contact number. There was no response to the phone number so we were unable to confirm her location. Upon arrival at the location, north east of the 636 spot height, the casualty was not there.
Two passing fell runners were able to guide us to her actual location, where we found the casualty and her husband. Unable to weight bear she required a long stretcher carry via Kinder River, Kinder Downfall and the western edge path to our vehicles at Edale Cross. Driven down to our base in Hayfield she was handed over to East Midlands Ambulance Service. We understand she had suffered a double fracture of her fibula.
We also had to assist a team member who injured his ankle during the evacuation. He had to be slowly escorted to one of our vehicles at Edale Cross.
Whilst this rescue was ongoing we also self deployed to assist a group of charity walkers in difficulty – see callout 22.
We finally stood down at 11pm after a long and tiring afternoon and evening.
