Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

As a self-funded organisation run by unpaid volunteers, and with annual running costs of over £30K, it is only through the kindness and generosity of the public are we able to keep doing what we do. So a very big thank you to Joseph Taylor who has set up a Just Giving page in memory...

In addition to ‘traditional’ search and rescue operations, Mountain Rescue teams now have significant water rescue expertise with several of the team being Swift Water Rescue Technicans (SRTs); in addition to continuous training and CPD, this qualification requires re-certification every three years. Last weekend, several of the team travelled to the balmy welsh resort of...

Search Drone Training

This afternoon several members of Kinder and Glossop Mountain Rescue Teams spent some time undertaking drone flying practice. The teams now have several trainee search drone pilots who will soon be fully qualified and available as an additional SAR resource across the Peak and elsewhere as required, alongside existing PDMRO drone pilots from Buxton and...
