Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

20 & 21: Callout – 20 February 2025

Our busy period continues.  This time we were called to two separate incidents within 400m of each other.  The first call came from a couple with their young son and their dog who were attempting the usual route from Edale to the downfall and back over the plateau.  They had become lost as they attempted...

19: Callout – 18 February 2025

A couple were following a walk from Edale to Kinder Downfall and back across the plateau.  They had completed the route to the Downfall, but as they started out back across the plateau they became less confident of the route.  The conditions on Kinder were very cold with patches of snow and ice still remaining...
