With our existing Landrover Defenders starting to show their age, and with an increased requirement for our Water Rescue team availability in the event of a major flooding incident, it became apparent to the team that a third, more modern, vehicle would be a useful, and necessary, addition to the stable.
Quite by chance, our Team Leader’s former colleagues at Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team were in the process of selling off their low-mileage Toyota Hilux and Kinder were offered the opportunity to purchase; this was too god an offer to refuse as the alternative – buying and fitting out a brand new vehicle – would have been very significantly more expensive.
Earlier this week our TL, Neil Woodhead, collected the vehicle from Pete Goble, TL of Rossendale at the time that Neil left them to move to the Peak District. Neil has a previous connection to this vehicle as, having originally joined Rossendale 15 years ago, he was their Chairman at the time he left in 2012, just after Rossendale had purchased the vehicle.
The vehicle will, no doubt, prove its worth in the years to come, being capable of carrying and pulling a significant load whilst also having a degree of very useful 4-wheel-drive off-road capability.
As an entirely voluntary, self-funded Charity, Kinder MRT is only able to cover its capital and on-going running costs through the very kind generosity of our followers and supporters so we’d like to say a very big thank you to you all; you really do make it happen.
