The team was called to assist a walker who had stumbled on rough ground near Kinder Low trig point and injured their ankle. The walker had heard a “crunching” noise and was now unable to put any weight on their leg. An EMAS ambulance team consisting of two paramedics (one of which was a Kinder team member) was despatched to meet us at the bottom of Coldwell Clough. We were able to collect them in one of our Land Rovers on its way up to Edale Cross and include them in our initial response section.
The walker’s ankle was splinted and he was carried on a Mountain Rescue stretcher back to Edale Cross. From there he was transported in one of our vehicles down to the waiting ambulance at Coldwell Clough and onward to hospital for further treatment.
There was some initial confusion on how to request our help which lead to a delay in us receiving the call. If anyone is in need of our help, call 999, ask for Police, then Mountain Rescue.
