Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

32: Callout – Saturday 30th September 2023

We were contacted by the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation Duty Controller who had been called by the police following a member of the public’s concern for the welfare of an injured walker. He had been seen to be struggling to walk at the top of Jacob’s Ladder in poor weather conditions. We were requested to send a vehicle to Edale Cross to check the area whilst volunteers from Buxton MRT checked the bottom of the route. As we were deploying we were stood down because the injured walker had been seen to be safely off the hill.
