Just as the team were getting ready for our Monday Casualty Care training session, we received a call for help from a vulnerable young adult who was lost on the top of Kinder. The call had initially been received by the Ambulance service and a first attempt to locate his phone had placed him at Dowry reservoir in Oldham team’s area. But a later attempt using PhoneFind gave us an accurate location east of Crowden Head in the middle of the Kinder plateau. The team deployed using our standard plan for lost walkers on the plateau. However as we were reviewing the mapping system which shows the location of all our resources, we spotted that the Coastguard helicopter happened to be training in the area, so asked if they could help. Just as our first hill parties were deploying from Edale Cross we received a call to say that the helicopter had found the casualty and was now waiting for us in Edale valley. We sent a vehicle and two team members to collect the casualty. We brought the casualty to our base where he was assessed by our team paramedic. Whilst he was fit and well, we still had some concerns for his well being, so we decided that it would be sensible to drive him home to Warrington. Our final team members arrived back at our base around midnight.
