A couple out for a walk reported shouts and whistles around Cluther Rocks on the western flank of Kinder Scout. With the informants’ position at the centre, we drew four search areas. Team members thoroughly searched each area using corridor and line searching techniques. Each team carries a tracker and we also track team members through their radios. You can see the results in the photo.
After three and a half hours of thorough searching we found no-one. The weather was good, with excellent visibility. There were many walkers in the area and we had no other reports of shouts or whistles. This was likely a misinterpretation of events by the informant but with good intent. Better this than ignoring a distress call.
We returned to base in time for tea and evening engagements.
