We were called by the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation Duty Controller with a request to rescue six young people who were lost in the Kinder Low area on Kinder Scout. The weather in the afternoon had deteriorated and they had become lost in poor visibility. We located them using PhoneFind technology near the cairn on Kinder Low, where they were warmed and then safely escorted to our waiting Landrovers at Edale Cross for the drive back down to Hayfield.
This was another example of how easy it is to get caught out in deteriorating conditions on Kinder Scout. A reminder to take care and observe the changing weather conditions when out in the hills.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
