We received a call form the PDMRO Duty Controller calling the team out to attend a female runner at the Brown Knoll Trig point, due to poor phone signal at the location information was limited, we were only made aware she had fallen and sustained a lower leg injury.
Our hill parties were driven in our Landrovers up to Edale Cross, then walked up to the casualty location conditions were wet and windy, K1 as a fast party were soon on scene closely followed by K2 with the stretcher package. K3 & K4 also made their way to scene to assist. Once on scene K1 were able to provide medical assistance, and suspected the casualty had potentially broken a bone in her lower leg.
We were planning to wheel the casualty back to Edale Cross on our stretcher when East Midlands Ambulance Service advised a Helimed was close by and available. Helimed was soon on scene and a handover was completed to the Doctor. The ground conditions near the trig point path were challenging with deep peat holes making the transfer and loading of the casualty into the aircraft difficult.
Once Helimed departed the team made their way back to Edale Cross and the vehicles to return to base, for drying, cleaning and re packing of equipment ready for the next call out.
