Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

55:Callout – Sun 22 Sept 2024

We were asked by the East Midlands Ambulance Service to assist a 79 year old gentleman who had fallen at Twenty Trees, above Hayfield Village. The gentleman had injured his shoulder and had banged his head when he fell. Head injuries, particularly in older casualties, are a cause for concern. Fortunately, we were able to reach him quickly and one of our team doctors provided medical care.

We evacuated the gentleman on our stretcher and handed him over to the EMAS ambulance waiting on Kinder Road.

We wish the gentleman a speedy recovery and hope that we didn’t hold up drivers for too long on Kinder Road, which we had to shut briefly whilst the ambulance received the casualty.

Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
