A group of fell runners were running on the lower slops of Kinder Scout when one of the group slipped and injured their knee. The runner was in significant pain and was unable to continue, so they called for our assistance. Fortunately for the group, we were carrying out our Sunday exercise at Twenty Trees, which was only a few kilometres away from the incident location.
We quickly despatched two parties to the scene in our team vehicles, while the rest of the team made their way on foot via the shooting cabin. The runner was assessed, then warmed up in a sleeping bag and casualty shelter, before being caried down to one of our vehicle on a Mountain Rescue stretcher.
From there he was transferred to our base, before going on to hospital for further assessment. The team wishes him a speedy recovery.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
