Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

1: Callout – 1 January 2026

Happy New Year, just 11 hours into 2026 and the team received its first call for assistance, a walker was undertaking on out on a circular route from Bowden Bridge to the Downfall with their dog. Unfortunately the dog became ill and was unable to continue, the casualty had initially called for support to assist getting the dog back to their vehicle, fortunately they were met by some other walkers who kindly offered their assistance and were able to help the party back to the car park. Our team controller was able to talk with the casualty party and ensure they were safely off the hill plus provide details for local emergency vets to ensure the dog could found the best treatment possible.

Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
