Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

25: Callout 18 May 2026

The team were contacted by Cheshire Search and Rescue asking us to respond to a North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) assistance request. A walker on Kerridge Ridge near Bollington had suffered a knee injury and was unable to continue. The ambulance crew had manage to locate, assess and treat the casualty but required assistance getting them from them from the casualty site on the ridge to their ambulance on the road below.

Several hill parties were deployed with our stretcher and wheel to help transport the casualty down the track to the waiting ambulance for the onward journey to hospital

Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers, who give their time free of charge, and it is funded entirely by public donations.
