Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

46: Callout – 22 August 2026

A young man had been on Kinder Scout with his friends.  When they stopped for some food, he managed to accidently spill hot water which went inside his boot and scalded his foot.  His foot became blistered and painful, making it too difficult for him to walk.

We made our way to Pym Chair and quickly located him.  He was given pain relief and had his injury treated.  We also deployed a team with a stretcher, in case he was still unable to walk.  With a bit of support he was able to slowly walk back to our vehicles at Edale Cross.  We then drove them back to Hope, where they were parked, so his friends could drive him on to be assessed at A&E.

Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers, who give their time free of charge, and it is funded entirely by public donations.
