In an almost exact repeat of callout 24 four days ago, we had another long and very traditional Mountain Rescue callout. We were asked to assist a 26 year old male with an injured ankle at Kinder Downfall. We implemented our standard response: Kinder 1 to locate and treat the casualty, Kinder 2 to bring the stretcher package and additional Kinder parties for the evacuation.
After pain relief and splinting the ankle we carried out a 2 hour stretcher evacuation to Edale Cross. The casualty was then driven in the team vehicle to our base in Hayfield. We were able to discharge the casualty to the care of his friends, who drove him to his local hospital for treatment.
The total duration of the callout was 5.5 hours, with 29 team members attending.
