As we were carrying out our final admin tasks from the pervious incident, callout three of the day arrived. A group of four walkers were on the southern edge path of Kinder Scout. One of them had slipped and injured his ankle. It was badly swollen and he couldn’t put any weight on it.
We obtained the group’s location using PhoneFind technology and deployed a fast response party to their location to assess the casualty. A second team was dispatched with a stretcher followed by a third party to assist with the carry off.
The casualty’s ankle was splinted and we carried him on the stretcher to our vehicles at Edale Cross before driving him and the rest of his group back to our base in Hayfield. As the casualty’s injury didn’t appear to be too serious, he was able to arrange for a friend to collect them and take them to an A&E closer to his home.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
