The team received a request for assistance from a walker who had injured their ankle on the Edge path on Kinder Scout. Their location was quickly confirmed as a few hundred meters north of Kinder Low on the way to the Downfall.
We despatched a fast party to assess the casualty, who were able to quickly get to the location by driving to Edale Cross in one of our Land Rovers. The casualty’s ankle was swollen and they were unable to put weight on it, so we packaged them in a Mountain Rescue stretcher ready for evacuation. Further team members soon arrived on scene and we were able to use the stretcher wheel to make good progress. We soon had the casualty back at our vehicles and driven back to our base ready to go on to A&E for further assessment.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.
