Saturday afternoon saw the team deployed to the top of Ashop Head steps, a walker who was part of a small walking group was reported as suffering breathing difficulties. We followed are standard deployment protocols, hill parties were deployed to the casualty site, however luckily for the walker one of our team doctors was out for a Saturday stroll with some colleagues and was just down the edge path near Sandy Heys.
Our Doctor was quickly on scene and assessed the casualty, with our hill parties were not far behind to provide support and equipment. Following initial assessments the casualty was found to have symptoms which required a rapid evacuation and enhance care, we liaised with East Midlands Ambulance Control and a helimed was tasked to the casualties location.
Helimed was on scene not long after and Kinder 1 were able to walk the to casualty to the helicopter where a handover was completed and then casualty was flown to hospital for further investigations and ongoing treatment. All the team wish them well on their recovery.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers, who give their time free of charge, and it is funded entirely by public donations.
