Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

13: Callout – Sat 9 March 2024

A couple out for a walk reported shouts and whistles around Cluther Rocks on the western flank of Kinder Scout. With the informants’ position at the centre, we drew four search areas. Team members thoroughly searched each area using corridor and line searching techniques. Each team carries a tracker and we also track team members...

12: CALLOUT – Monday 4th March 2024

Just as the team were getting ready for our Monday Casualty Care training session, we received a call for help from a vulnerable young adult who was lost on the top of Kinder.  The call had initially been received by the Ambulance service and a first attempt to locate his phone had placed him at...
