Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) has been in existence since 1971, and is one of seven mountain rescue teams that operate within the Peak District National Park, as part of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO).

Our 50 members operate on an purely voluntary basis and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist members of the public on the hill or in urban search and rescue situations.

We are almost exclusively funded by public donations, and all proceeds from fund raising go towards equipment and resources used on our call outs.

15: CALLOUT – Mon 18 March 2024

A male walker had called for help from the Kinder Low area reporting a possible medical issue.  The call had been routed to the ambulance service who despatched a Coastguard helicopter to investigate.  As we were unable to get a contact number and firm location for the gentleman, Kinder team deployed an initial party to...

14: Callout – Wed 13 March 2024

A couple called 999 because they were lost in the dark. Their phone signal was poor and the only information available was they had set off from Edale 2 hours previously. There was no further contact from the walkers as they presumably took shelter in a mobile phone black spot. This meant our usual technology...
